It looks like I will (reluctantly) go 10 speed on my MTB in the spring.
When the chains first came out, people were snapping them all over the place, is that still the case? Which cheap 10 speed chains are reliable? Nothing fancy, just won't snap. I'll be joining with a power link.
KMC X10
Bit quiet. Do I take that to mean that they are all good, or that they all snap?
+1 kmc x10
Ultegra seem to be on cheap most places at the mo. I'm yet to snap a 10s chain, despite trying lots…
Yup kmc X10
Connex chains. strong, strong, strong
KMC
Whatever's cheapest. I doubt anyone can tell the difference. 🙂
I got some odd Chinese 10 speed chain from my LBS which had an even odder screw-in arrangement for the connecting pin. It cost about £8 and has lasted through two 3 Peaks and six months of training bike use.
Chain 'quality' is massively over-rated IMO, it tends to be the skill used in connecting it that matters.
105 for £13
KMC +1
Kmc x10 for me +1
SRAM mid level, running fine on 2 bikes (now cursed)
KMC X10 cheapy for me, decent quality and cheap. Got a 105 on one bike though just now as I had it spare, seems decent too.
I had SRAM previously but just gone with KMC - It's slick, quiet and strong without being overly heavy... I like.
KMC X10 defo
Have a look at YABAN super light chains on ebay. I just got one and put it on my road bike and very impressed.
I'm yet to snap a 10s chain, despite trying lots…
+1
Were people snapping them lots? I missed that.
I'd say +another for KMC though.
