Coming back from Ventoux to Calais by car. Where's a nice place to stay to split the journey? Looking for a nice characterful village with a few restaurants/bars to keep 5 blokes happy. Big enough to have a decent mid price hotel. Good food, safe parking and traditional atmosphere preferred. Not fussed on bigger cities.
Chatillon Sure Seine is about halfway, nice town.
To be honest, I don't you'll get what you want in a French village, you'll need somewhere a bit bigger (like a small town)
Thanks, IHN. I really appreciate that. Will look into that. Anyone with any other suggestions of small towns? For those who know Wales, we're looking for a sort of Abergavenny/Crickhowell equivalent, not a French version of Newport/Merthyr (with apologies to anyone from Merthyr/Newport - no offence intended)
