[#3453675]

Hey folks,

Currently trying to plan a ride on Wednesday this week as I finally have a full and glorious day off from work.

I currently live in Hayfield, Peak District and as such have done most of the trails aruond these parts to death and then some. So it would be nice to hop on a train and try pastures new. So anyway, I have a GMPTE traincard, being at work at the moment the security protocol says that I can not download PDF's, so can not check out the area map and see where it covers! If some of you would be kind enough to check out the coverage here:

...and possibly suiggest some good routes to do, that I could get to for free, that would be ace! Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Also should have added - not Marple. Is Todmorden covered by the above map?

I think Marple is all you're going to get I reckon, possibly something slightly North, but not as far as Tod.

Can you get out to horwich parkway? You're not far off rivi. Or you could get out to Darwen and ride up to the tower, over the moor to Belmont and Rivington, , then drop down to horwich for a train back.

Littleborough less than a mile from mtl and pennine way.. you can even do the mile on the canal towpath.. you will not have many folk wanting to sit next to you on the train though its muddy out there..

how many moorland miles do you want to do? train runs from manchester to L Boro every 30 mins usually empty.. station is literally by the canal. new canal towpath meets MTL and pennine bridleway at summit approx 10 mins from station
i'd vouch for taking the half mile to hollingworth lake then onto the PBW to summit then canal to just south of hebby bridge then back to littleborough via 12 miles of mtl clockwise

real taste of tod/ HB and moortops and rain!!

I think you ahould be able to get to Horwich parkway. I think Blackrod is as far as you can go on that line with that card (although I maybe wrong). Either station is idea for Rivi (Blackrod slighly better I guess).

For Rivington, have a look here. They're not great for you because most of them start from my house but I normally go past Blackrod station on the way so you can just ignore that bit.
