I've just had my pc infected with some virus which was prompting me to install 'Perfect Defender' via a rogue pop-up. Managed to get rid of it by deleting the exe and dll files. But I'm surprised avast didn't pick this up. So I'm looking at installing spybot, anyone recommend a secure site for download please.

Download.com is full of utilities. Most are free, some have a time limit.

Thanks. I did google for spybot but I just wanted a recommendation of a safe place to download it.

Bear in mind it's actually "Spybot search & destroy"...
