Long weekend in Rome and doing the tourist thing of just walking around and taking in the sights.
On the wanderings, we saw a number of mountain bikers and I was wondering where they were going. All on mid-high to high end bikes - Orbea or Specialized predominantly and most full suspension - up to about 130mm travel.
I checked Google Maps and there appeared to be nothing but built up area for miles around...so where do they go? If urban, surely a gravel bike would make more sense...the bikes all appeared new i.e less then 2 years old, so there must be some MTB trails in Rome or very close by.
I haven't downloaded Italian Trailforks and free Strava isn't showing me anything, and clearly I'm curious (but like a typical UK person my second language skills don't really exist!).
scusami, caro ragazzo, potresti gentilmente informarmi di dove stai triturando quel nodo che hai tra le gambe?
Thanks although the translation suggests they are grinding a knot, so that is unlikely to reveal an answer to my question either. 🤣
There must be a branch of Nationwide on the outskirts?
Nothing showing on Trailforks?
I know there's a really good MTB shop in Rome called ProBike. That would be my first port of call to find out.
Riding to the train station to take a train to the trails.ย
I'm just here for a weekend and hadn't thought it might have trails, will look at Trailforks when I'm home. It just seems a massive place so must have a fair distance to ride out to the trails.
I'm clearly a country bumpkin rather than some city-type as trails are only a few minutes away from my door. Here they seem to be a fair distance away...assume similar issues in the big cities in the UK and I've never thought about it there either.

Plenty of "dirt" segments on Strava...at least one tagged "downhill"
There are quite famously 7 hills, that could possibly be where the trails are.
Enough to justify a Turbo Levo?

Worryingly, I did a similar moving time on my feet today and managed to burn 1700 calories.
It has been a great place as a tourist...my usual is now to have a think to see if a family holiday could be done - so some touristy things and stuff to do for recreation. There does appear to be stuff so once this wee trip is done, I'll do some more looking.
Thanks for.posting the screengrabs.
Grind the knot = shred the gnar... Apparently
