[Closed] Wheel out of true causing brake rub?

Evening, went out tonight and the rear brake is rubbing something chronic, tried realigning on the trail, didn't reset the pads, but still didn't work.

Clearly need to have a look in the daylight, but it mainly happened when pedalling, so my question is could the wheel be out of true causing the disc/pads to rub? Need to sort it as racing at the weekend and it was just screeching!

no, bent rotor or misalignment

assuming it's a disc brake the wheel being out of true would be irrelevant since the rotor's attached to the hub

bent/warped rotor or wheel not sitting right in the dropouts or sticky piston ?

Probably a rotor, so how do you check if the rotor is bent as a couple of mm is very small, will it show on a flat level surface?

Not dropouts as its a bolt thru type.

Yes, just take off and place on a flat surface.

Positive that you've done up the axle properly?

best way to check rotor is to look "through" the slot in the calliper & see where it moves relative to the pads as the wheel spins - need a decent light source behind it, or a nice sheet of white paper if it's bright lighting generally

they bend back easily using an adjustable spanner (careful - they do go easily so don't be rough)

Yep checked the axle on the trail also.

Must be pads or rotor.

Cheers for the replies.

Rear brake of my new genesis equilibrium disc is rubbing, despite adjusting pads etc.
It is only rubbing while riding, not when on the work stand or being pushed. The wheel might be out of true.
any suggestions

If the rotor is true, the axles are both parallel, and the quick release is done up tight, the only things left are caliper alignment, and potential play in the hub bearings. Since it is only happening when you are riding, I would check for play in the bearings.
