I have a pretty badly buckled rear wheel (Mavic EN321 rim with Hope Pro hub). Its been in the LBS for truing, but still has a kink in it, that they said they cant get rid of.
Ive ridden the bike twice since then and its back to being badly buckled.. Need some suggestions as to what to do, whether it needs a new rim/hub/complete wheel.. or if another shop would be able to do a better job straightening it? Its only 13 months old, so is their any warranty on it? Also considering changing to the stronger EN521 to avoid my heavy, poor technique'd riding!
Any advice would be wheely (sorry) appreciated! ๐
cheers
TBH if it's that badly buckled your best bet is probably to get the hub built into a new wheel (why not try it yourself?).
I doubt you'd be able to get a warranty claim on it. If you're heavy on your wheels it might be a good idea to go t oa sronger rim but in my experience the build is more important than the rim. A decent build can make pretty much any wheel strong.
New rim needed, and get a stronger rim, no build can make a rim stronger than it is.
New rims it is then, and i may even have a blast at building it ๐ cheers guys!
