Looking for a solid wheelset and It appears superstar have a custom wheelbuild offer on (save 30%) an their electro hubs on stans flow mk3's come in around £320 with db spokes... any thoughts on why I should spend the extra and go for the hopes?
Has anyone got the new flow's and regretted it? I do quite like the mk2's but have destroyed a couple in my time.
The DT Swiss 471's have caught my eye as an alternative rim to go with and I'm thinking 18 bikes or similar maybe a more reliable build than the superstar machine?
I'd be happy enough with hope hubs instead but they aren't particularly the lightest and they don't seem to compete on engagement with the newer superstar hubs which sound fairly strong (big flanges, 100 point engagement and standard skf bearings)
Any thoughts for around the £300-400 mark?
DT350s are a bit lighter and cheaper than Hopes I think.
Also, checkout Bitex hubs, which are a bit lighter and much cheaper than both. I have them on my road bike and they've been good so far. 48 point engagement I think. They're quieter but more clicky than Hopes or DT anyhow. Two bite guards on the freehub body aswell, which has stopped it getting chewed up. The Novatec hubs only have one bite guard, and it got torn off my last Novatec hub due to pedalling forces I imagine.
I think Just Riding Along and DCR wheels build with Bitex (branded as their own hubs, you'd have to ask them). DCR wheels are supposed to do a good build and seem pretty reasonably priced.
