As the title suggests i'm after some advice on a new set of wheels. My old set wheels used Hope Pro 2's on Mavic rims which i think were a 7 series rims, these are about 5 years old . I've been impressed with the Pro 2 hubs as they tend to go on for ever.

I'm after a set of wheels that are fairly light but can take a bit of a beating. I mainly ride XC with a bit of the lairy stuff now and then.

I'm looking to spend about £400 max. If anyone knows of any good deals or think i should consider a different type of hub and rim then the advice is welcome.

Thanks

P.S I ride a Yeti ASR if you need to know what i ride.

You should look at the range of Hope factory built wheels. They are amazing value for money, probably around 20% cheaper than the best shop built price you could get.
The Stans range of rims are really good, either the Flow or the ZTR would be good choices. The Flow is super strong, probably more rim than you need on an ASR unless you're heavy or clumsy or, like me, both!

Just to clarify in that original post I meant the ZTR Arch rim. The other wheelset to consider is this:

Specialized Roval Traverse AL

I run these on my all mountain steed and they've been fanstastic for the two years I've had them. Bear in mind I weigh 16.5 stone and am DH orientated. They are around 1480g for the set and can accomodate a variety of different fork drop outs. They are more expensive than a set of Hope Hoops but they are great value for money.

You could try hope hubs on Mavic 719 or 819 if you want tubeless. Maybe a bit cheaper than the Stans rims

To me it sounds like you should stick with Hope (from your text).

The Spesh wheels are DT Swiss hubs.

I've had my Chris Kings since 2002/03. If you can find a deal on them anywhere- they are the only others that I'd recommend.

Hope Hoops would be my recommendation. The hubs are great, easy to service and adaptor friendly. I'm a big fan of Stans rims too - they're lighter and wider than Mavics and the same price in the Hoop deals. Even if you don't want to go tubeless I'd still go for Stans...
