I totally ****ed my shoulder....such that scratching the top of my head is a real effort. I had to give up my dream of becoming a trapeze artist, or javelin thrower. I cannot even throw a stone. I cannot reach into the back pocket of my road jersey!

Most times we crash our bike, break something and mend....... let this be a warning to some of you....sometimes we crash our bike and we are never the same again.

Neck injury - left me paralised for about 15mins - it frightened the sh*t out of me. Kept me from riding for about 6mths.

Dislocated shoulder and broken collar bone. Surgery. Month off work. Limited mobility for life. Golf clubs quietly rusting in the shed.

Two sprained wrists.

Right now I'm off the bike for a grade 1 AC separation but that was martial arts, not mountain biking.

The odd sprain and graze or smacked nuts but the double sprained wrists caused the most pain/inconvenience.

Did once get a wheelie wrong with spuds and came right off the back. landed on my coccyx and thought I'd paralysed myself. Not a bad injury but a very scary five minutes while I plucked up the courage to see what happened if I tried moving

Hit a massive pothole and smacked my under carriage on the saddle hard, ruptured urethra, was 40 mile into a ride and had to do another 60, p15ing blood for two days. It was the first day in Mallorca on a weeks training camp, bit grim TBA.

C'mon people, let's have some evidence too!

Here's mine:

Just a flesh wound thankfully - 8 staples and 4 stitches in my left knee too. I reckon if that's the worst thing I ever do biking then I'll have done alright!

crashed hard at mushroom pie at Glen T, fractured my jaw, collar bone, broke 3 ribs, tore the nerves in the left hand of my face, got 3 stitches in my eye and 4 in my arm. Riding within a month though 🙂

Broken thumb which wasn't the problem nearly took all the ligament of it meaning 6 weeks in plaster 18 x-rays and constant talk of surgery, 10 weeks of physio when out of plaster and the bastard still causes jip.

Currently ****ed shoulder tore the ligaments in August, went to A&E been seeing physio and now down to see a specialist as it ain't getting no better and have re-torn it since and physio reckons there is muscle damage as well 🙁

I've either been very lucky or i'm not riding hard enough. This is the worst i've had.

Fractured pelvis was the worst.
I've cracked my ribs a couple of times too, the same ribs each time. There's a lump of calcified bone there now.

Career ending broken wrist, broke end off ulna, radius smashed to bits, bone graft from hip, external fixator for a few months, 9 months off work - change of career.
Broke the other elbow at the same time for good measure. Started mountainbiking again after this as it seemed safer than bmxing 😕

I can handle breaking bones as they heel but ligaments are bastards even the doc in A&E said i'd of been better breaking the collar bone than tearing ligaments as ligaments never heel the same.

In 2006 I fractured my L2 vertabrae the week before beginning work as a guide in Morzine. There endeth my MTB career.

It wasn't so much the fracture but the nerve damage. After crashing I carried on doing shuttles on the Pleney, but knew something wasn't right. The next morining I woke up and couldn't move my legs and I didn't have any sense of touch on my back. I was shitting it!

I rested up for a week and was x-rayed again and found the fracture to have healed, but I still get problem with my nerves in my back. I have little feel on my skin but sometimes the lightest touch can be like fire.

Dis-loctated elbow 4 years ago.
No broken bones but ligaments torn. 3 weeks in plaster, back riding after 6 weeks, arm back to full strength after 18 months.
Mental scars still there.

Photo was taken when the cast came off.

Putting a bike in the car and driving to hospital with a dislocated thumb isn't something i'm keen to repeat. Or having it pulled back into place by a doctor and a nurse 6 hours later.

What a clumsy lot. I cut my elbow once. About 1/5 cm full thickness. I might have chipped the bone a tiny bit.

Thats the worst.

After riding Schoolboy MX/BMX/Adult MX/Enduro/MTB's from the age of five to forty two I've never had a serious injury.
Had a few none bike related ones though...

Snapped the end off my radius, and used it to break my scaphoid and 3 more little bones in the wrist. Unsurprisingly, a small dislocation of the clavicle also occurred as I tried to drive my hand through the tarmac at mach 4 🙂

Weirdly it was the shoulder that hurt most, right up to the point when they had to pull the wrist straight in A+E...

fell of my bike riding to work now a narrow lane, i think i hit fence on the side, next thing im upside down, cut above my eyebrow, broken finger, dead leg and one bad ass concusion, walked about 30 meters towards the local cricket club and crashed out again, came round about a minuite later( i think ) was working for dad at the time so i phoned him to pick me up and tell him i wasnt going to be able to go to work and can he take me to hosipital, he wasnt very sympathetic and told me to ring mum !

Concussion a couple of times - loads of sprains and pulled ligaments, no breaks though.

On a more serious note, I once crashed whilst pissed riding home from the Indian take away. Nothing survived - not a single poppadom, chutney everywhere, you get the picture.
Have you ever tried getting Rogan Josh stains out?
The mental scars have never healed..........

Not had anything I would classify as serious but have taken a pedal down my shin taking off all the skin and I'm pretty sure I could see bone. Did it while scouting out a race course the night before. Second one is buggering a nerve in my shoulder causing me to have a winged scapula, that was 5 years ago and still gives me gyp
