Anyone got a favourite bike, of any era, maybe saved as a jpeg on your desktop, or hanging on your wall ?? Post them up here, telling why you love it, maybe because of the proportions, the technology, the material, or a famous race it won.... or rider - whatever !!

Road bikes.

I read Rouleur and want to own every bike in it.

I read Privateer/STW and think that the bikes look like they'd be good for riding certain terrain but there's not much of an emotional reaction.

MTBs are just functional, don't look 'beautiful' in the same way as a nice road bike IMO!

Can't see me buying one as they're obscenely expensive for such a weighty frame, but I still really like the Prince (the Dogma just doesn't look as good!):

The mountain bike is certainly a love/ hate bike. It's an ugly bike but for some reason I love it. The 695 is stunning in the flesh too.

Jeez, those road bikes are awful looking. What's with the wavy forks and frame? They look like Fido Dido's hair... The Orange Five is the nicest looker so far, and that is horrendous. 🙂

Without a doubt it would be a Cannondale.

The orange carbon Niner Air9s with the rigid forks is one bike that makes my trousers tingle:

One brand I don't get the aesthetic appeal of at all is Pinarello. Horrible, gaudy-looking, over-designed things, the lot of 'em.

Without a doubt, it wouldn't have a Lefty if it was.

Can't paste the pic directly (flash website) but this beauty

Agree about the Pinarellos, they're gopping, even in the flesh. I've been in a room with about 15 of the Team Sky bikes and what must have been close to £50,000 of wheels but it was just "meh, so what". I suspect if I posted that on the Team Sky Facebook page, all the fans would shoot me down in flames.

Pinarellos not only ming, each frame weighs as much as a small elephant.

Speedvagen win for me, good looking but steel so not really race bikes.

There's a great bike shop and museum on Bainbridge Island, Seattle. Well worth the ferry ride across from the city

Right back at ya - SteveHine

I can't see how you wouldn't love my lil' beauty:

A True Classic... and way better than those skinny wheeled "Racers" ! lol

@Downhille.... and how many links and bushes / bearings does a modern full susser have. It's OK you can like a PRST1-4 :-p

This has got to be up there

[img] [/img]

though I still have a hankering for one of these

[img] [/img]

Classic Italian steel

The Colnago above also fits the same bill. DeRosa is nice except the wheels.

Deano's Speedvagen CX is a thing of sublime beauty.

steel so not really race bikes

Now that's funny - many more races won on steel bikes than anything else....

edit - those Pinarellos are completely hideous, how anyone could think otherwise I've no idea.. they did make some nice bikes though...

Baums FTW, but Cannondales a close second. Anyone posting a Pinarello is blind or psychologically damaged. FACT.

My favourite off-the-peg contender:

Oh, all right. Engraved Ti loveliness. Not a sticker in sight. Never seen another in real life. Needs some newer blingy bits to make it a seriously blingy thing.
