[Closed] What's the difference between SRAM PG990 and PG980 Cassettes??!!

They appear to be the same weight (ish) and both have an alloy spider.

Is the alloy lockring on the 990 the only difference?!

(or should I just buy an XT instead?)

I had a 990 that lasted forever and a replaced it with a 980 as I couldnt see any difference other then the price.

2 months after fitting I develop trouble shifting gear and with chain slipping half way through a ride. Upon investigation back home it comes down to 4 bent teeth on the 18t ring of the cassette 😮

I've always used Sram cassettes in the past so may buy another 990 to replace it or try an XT.

980 has a carrier over 3 biggest sprockets (like SLX), 990 has a spider over more (like XT has over 5 biggest)
990 is a bit lighter than 980

Doesn't the 990 come in a range of lovely colours? I have a red one
