Hi all,

I'm toying with the idea of selling my bike to fund a new one, however I have absolutely no idea what it's worth.

Here's the spec, what do you reckon?

Spesh Pitch Comp 2011 Frame (mint condition) Large
Renthal Fat bar 780mm
Superstar Grips
Superstar AM 40mm Stem
Cranecreek S2 Headset
Lyrik 160mm Dual Air U-Turn 2009
Fox RP23 Kashima 2012
Hope Mono Mini's
Superstar Alpine 203mm F&R Disks
Superstar AM490 Rims & Evo hubs
Hans Damf 2.35
Saint Cranks
Nukeproof Electron pedals
X5 Front Deraileur
X7 Rear
X0 Redwing shifters
Crank Bros Joplin 4 Seat post with remote
Spoon Charge Seat
Crud catcher

The pitcure is a little out of date but hey ho.

Any idea's would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
John.

I think you'd be lucky to get £600.

EDIT: Second thoughts £750 - 800 is probably more like it. Didn't notice the Evo hubs. Plus you look like a nice chap.

5 years ago, I sold a 3yr old Enduro Expert for £750 - spec prob wasn't quite as good as yours though.

Last year, I tried selling a 4yr old S-Works Carbon Enduro SL for £950 and didn't get a sniff.

Not sure if that helped.

It's making me think I should have called you before building this one haha

They are some seriously good bikes and in to the multiples of grands a few years prior to selling, I'm quite surprised.

I honestly was thinking £1,100-£1,200 🙁

It's almost not worth selling, at least not as a bike, maybe best as parts.

Loads of messing about though!

If you want a BFE sell the frame and use your stuff on a BFE it would work well, plus pitch frames sell well. If you want a totally new build split it, it's all good stuff and will get you a lot more

You could get a rigid, singlespeed, Curtis with mismatched parts for that!! 😈

Pitches used to be worth quite a bit as they had a really good reputation for being a great all-rounder but I think that these days the problem with them is the 1 1/8" head tube - anyone wanting a beefy do-it-all bike is likely to want decent forks on it and it's getting tougher and tougher to find them with straight steerers.

Additionally, the Pitch is known to be a big bike, such that even at 6' I'm riding a Medium, so I'd say the market for a Large will be smaller.

FWIW, bought my 2011 Pitch Pro just over a year ago for £875, completely standard and hardly used.

Split it and sell the parts seperately, you'll make more money overall.

If you want to chop it in for a BFE, why not flog the frame and any other bit you don't think you'll need and use the proceeds to buy a BFE frame then build it up with the wheels/brakes/fork/drive from your pitch?

95% of the bits should fit...

Or have I missed something?

I think you're right the way forward is to split the bike down.

The pitch is a great bike, love it but been itching fora BFe for a good while.

Anyone got any comparisons between the two? Save me from making a massive mistake!

It is a great all rounder, I had a Norco Sight 3 SE '12 which was an awesome bike, but a trip to the shop meant I was blasting round on my mates Pitch and within a week I'd sold it!!! Bought built an loved the pitch ever since, can't explain the need for a BFe it's just there!!!

I sold my very good condition and very upgraded Stumpjumper Evo a few months ago for £1500. I had loads of interest but I cashed in at what I thought was a fair offer.

Now I'm also trying to build a Bfe and a I'm a few months behind schedule! I wanted a cheapish hardtail for winter night rides and mud fests but I've gone over budget and missed months of riding.

With hindsight I would have sold the frame and kept the very nice parts that I now can't afford to buy again like the Reverb, the Thomson stem, the carbon bars, the Vault pedals etc, etc... I would have been back on the trails ages ago. Instead I'm scrimping and saving to buy boring crap like chains, cassettes and headsets.

I'd swap all the parts to the BFe and ride it a fair bit before selling the full-sus. You'll probably love it but it'll be annoying if you don't!

What's the Stanton like to live with, I've heard good things?

Chiefgrooveguru

I'm pretty much going to do what you suggested.

It will take a little while longer to get the BFe but at least then I can have either option, just a few hours rebuilding 🙂
