...with a bit of a platform and good with mud. I've got some cheap ass Shimano ones that are useless as soon as there's a wee bit of sticky mud and they're a trifle irritating, so looking for suggestions. I'm currently thinking M647s, but I'm open to suggestions.

The new shimano ones perhaps? I have a feeling you can already buy them, they're all mountain XTR/XT I think.

Here we go..

I was thinking about the new XTRs, but having seen a non-press-shoot picture I'm not convinced they're pedal of god I was expecting.

If you're worried about mud clearance then Candy 3's have loads of it and the new ones have proper bearings in them not the crappy bushes that the old ones have

I'm running some Time Control pedals, they have a platform and I've used them for 4 years with no problems. They have been through mud, water, clouted rocks and tree stumps and still working. The only downside is they may be a bit heavier.

+2 Time - stick'em on the bike, stick cleats on shoes, use and abuse to heart's content - maintenance requirements? yet to find them, cleat wear maybe

Not sure I'd agree ... my new bike had the old Candy and I found the mud clearance to be rubbish went back to egg beaters. The 3's might be better but the photo's don't seem to show much improvement ... but I could be wrong.

I'd like a pair of the new eggbeaters with the proper bearings. But not sure I'd recommend them on this forum, they get a lot of negative feedback.

CB Mallets - have had a pair for 3 years, and only had to do the bearings once (and they hadn't gone, just had a slight wobble so I sorted them before it became worse)

I know there are plenty of CB haters on here, but I've had nothing but good experiences with them.......and they never clog in mud. Ever.
