on a road bike
Depends on the resistance, but 25 minutes or so isn't bad.
no resistance on the roller
I'm not too sure about rollers but on my turbo (Kurt Kinetic fluid) I tend to ignore distance/time as the faster you pedal the more the resistance increases so I always find it difficult to maintain the high end speeds I can do on the road.
I know you can (sort of) calibrate a turbo by adjusting the resistance to give a set slow down time (i.e takes 20 secs for the wheel to stop spinning from 20mph) but I can't be arsed with all that, just like to get on with it.
On rollers, inside, you can break the magic 20 min mark easy. The worst thing about it is the lack of cooling air flow, I set a fan up on low setting just to provide a very gentle breeze.
