I'm selling an old bike that has 5yo XT brakes on it.
My bike has Avid Elixirs.
I think the XT's are the ones to keep, and sell the old bike with the Elixirs - what do you think?

2012 Avid Elixir 3 running as sweet as the day they were installed. Only need bleeding about once year at most, set and forget. Gravity bleed up and tip the bike/lever on it's side (bleed port highest) to get the last bits of trapped air out of the reservoir/bleed port u-bend bit which causes most of the bleed issues.

Shimano brakes have nicer levers and are more powerful in use but IME are not reliable. In fact the much vaunted Deores are the most flaky and time consuming of all the brakes I have. When they work they are good!
