I bought a late 26" Soul frame a few years ago, it was built up rather haphazardly with 29" forks and 26" wheels and singlespeeded. I used to like such a bike but tbh it never really worked or suited the local trails too well. I've been reticent to sell for one reason or another and fancy giving it another go, question is what to do with it. Anyone riding with 27.5 up front with maybe a 130 fork or so? Or stick to the classic 26 and a 140/150 fork?
Good grief! 26" and a decent 120mm fork, treat the poor thing with some respect please! ๐
Sell it to me, you're obviously not well suited ๐
Seriously btw

Exactly that.
Sell it to Satan?
I've also got one, but hankering after something a bit more aggro, I have an out and out XC bike already. I'm 6ft tall on a large, 120mm reba, rides well, but it's not as fast or light as my XC bike for those types of ride, and not that suited to shredding the gnarr either...... I'm also pondering what to do with mine.
not that suited to shredding the gnarr
think the frame is a lot more capable than you give it credit.
Sell it, employ the 6 month rule - ie. if you don't ride a bike for 6 months, get it to ****
You're right, I probably just want a new frame. ๐ณ
Sell it to me too.
Fat front it
I've got one of the early Mk1s. Last year it went on a diet of 1x11 XT, plus wheels to match and I now have a great steel hardtail. With only 100-120mm travel. And small wheels. And weighs **** all for a steel hardtail. But with [s]a more skillful[/s] the right rider it would cover most of the terrain or trail centres in the UK.
Really not sure I understand the OPs problem!
MCTD, I'm just looking for some build ideas, seeing if anyone is using theres in a slightly different way given we now have 27.5 wheels and forks and as mentioned fat fronts or even plus sizes. Building a 100 or 120mm 26er really doesn't float my boat, maybe selling it is the best idea.
Seriously the best bike I've owned. Combination of light weight, compliant and extremely capable of landing 4ft drops...all with 120 forks.
Try either 120 or 130 forks with 26" and a works components angleset for ultimate fun IMO
I've changed my mind......... Cracking ride last night in Bringewood, Have let some air out of my forks (they were set up when I was at least 1.5st heavier) and switched back to thinner grips, both had very positive effects ๐
I'm running a 445mm exotic carbon fork, and will be installing a 650b+ front wheel as soon as I get around to it.. Should give the front end a ride height that's bang on the Soul's sweet spot..
After 5 or so years riding exclusively rigid, I would find it hard to go back to the lardy sus fork configuration so the 120mm Reba gathers dust..
The 650b+ wheel will also slot comfortably into the front of my second bike, which has a singular fork
