Seriously. When I was a kid I remember them being crappy flimsy things. Does anyone make anything sturdy?

Pedal-less balance bikes are the "new stabilisers"

Balance bikes are not a hit in this house. I started a thread on the other forum about that, but I am thinking a stabilised bigger bike might help.

Would it help if I called them 'skills compensators'?

I have an interest in this thread as i drove over my sons stabalizer the other day and wrecked it. Off a Ridgeback and whilst the ridgeback kids bikes are great the stabalizers are nothing special and are easily broken by a VW Golf.

Just seen the other thread, you're not seriously contemplating putting stabilizers on a balance bike are you?
