Having realised hardtail life isn't for me, I'm looking for a 120 XC/DC type frame... chisel, spur sorta thing.
New flare max out later this year with the new style suspension layout could fit the bill

yeah, already crossed my mind. Won’t be overly light though I’d guess!
I know you are not looking at specific brands or models but could you please review a head to head of all the hardtail emtbs deigned in the UK for gravel/MTB with the numbers 429 and letters RCE in their descriptions. TIA.
Ordered one of the new Amflows but no idea when they will be available. The lads I ride with all have ebikes and they were always waiting for me on the climbs so decided at 67 years of age I’d join the club.
Probably a 120mm/130mm full suss trail bike. But it'd be good to see reviews of the cheaper end of the scale rather than the top end models. Or maybe reviews comparing the cheap with the expensive version of the same bikes - ie is the upgrade really worth the money?
I'm very happy with my crop of 5 bikes (FS 160 / Steel SS HT / Ti geared HT / Ti Gravel / Steel SS gravel commuter) ...
Buuuut
Starling Beady Little Eye
Short travel FS (Transition Spur / Carbon Wasp)
Light ebike
Would all be on the "if I came into a bit of money" wishlist.
Meh, no serious plans to replace my 2022 Stumpjumper Evo. Haven't seen anything else that looks like an obviously better do-it-all compromise for the riding I do. Could justify something a bit more butch for the trails I ride maybe 60-70% of the time, but I think it would be a bigger compromise for the remainder. Plus, with the right tyres and geo-tweaks, the Stumpjumper is totally fine on steep tech, certainly at the (very pedestrian) speed I ride it.
In an ideal world I'd have a 160-170 enduro bike and a 120-130 trail/XC bike.
If I was honest with myself, I'd probably get more fun out of a full-lard E-bike for most of my riding, but there's no way it could be a one bike solution, given the need for flying abroad and hike-a-bike stuff in the Highlands and the Lakes.
