[#13535763]

We're trying to draw up a list of MTBs/eMTBs to get in for review. Ignoring specific brands, what MTB/eMTB are you thinking will be your next bike?

Handily, we have a new forum sponsor - Leisure Lakes - so feel free to have a look on their site for inspiration 🙂

a full suss big travel, to replace my Capra.  At the moment it would be a Geometron G1.

After the disappointment of my trek fuel exe, I don't think I can spend big on another e-bike so will probably be a 140mm full sus powered by legs

MTB hardtail for me. Cotic Solaris to be precise. Currently in the 'have ordered, now waiting for it to turn up' phase!

I want a long travel electric gnarpoon to substitute for the DH bike that I really want but can't justify.

Probably next year I'll start looking. Particularly keen on brands who offer a frameset.

Would like it to be a 130mm ish full suspension trail bike (non-E). Realistically it'll probably be a hardtail with geometry closer to what I'd consider ideal for me and a parts transplant from the current frame!

Mine's already been ordered. Hurry up ya buggers!  (actually, it's not what I'd like to see reviewed though, can I change me answer? 🥴 )

A new custom hardtail from Marino is on it's way to me right now.

The one I've got planned (for next year if I manage to clear out some old bikes first) is a 170mm/190mm custom full sus frame, again from Marino.  And then I'm going to bolt a motor onto it.

I don't need any more bikes and I certainly don't need some massive gnarpoon.

Probably an Atherton S.170E 🤷‍♂️

Sherco 250...

That's also top of my list but I can't afford a decent van.

I won't really need an MTB for ages.

I'm not particularly considering a 'next bike', but I'm generally curious about interesting new stuff from certain brands, Cotic, Atherton, SC, Sonder, various niche brands too. Are you only taking into account potential buying decisions, or are you looking beyond that slightly narrow take on what you should review? I guess, given this poll, the answer is nope.

Interesting category cut-offs given Ben's recent anti trailbike comments

I'd like in no particular order. A new 160mm enduro bike that slightly more up to date than my current one, with fewer scratches, possibly electronic shifting, and less weight.

And I'd also like the same but maybe 140mm/130mm for when the other one is a bit much.

Then I'd really like a 160/150mm over powered e-bike, just for the LOLZ

And I'd like a stupid fast 120mm FS race bike that's obscenely stiff and way OTT for what I need around here on the canals and converted railways for when I don't wanna ride the hardtail.

None of the above again

I'm after a fixed gear 650b gravel/tourer, in steel with a lugged fork.

Think Brother Mr Wooden, but SS and with disk brakes.

@Thisisnotaspoon

Stooge Rambler, although actually it’s a bit plane form

I think i need an ebike. Ideally not to heavy with a removable battery, so on trips and for touring i can charge in the accommodation

I have all the bikes I need - and more, so next purchase is a want rather than need. Probably a Ti hardtail build.

Next big full bike purchase will be a replacement ebike in a year or so though - full fat, 22kg'ish 160/170mm top of the range jobbie

Steel 125r/140f FS, rowdy downcountry geo.

Frame is currently being coloured in.

Very much dependant on what bikes you have, surely.  I have a hardtail and a 160 enduro as well as a gravel bike.  The gravel bike is very off road focused so arguably is too close to the hardtail so that might become a "down-country" level of travel type bike.  If I didn't have a longer travel enduro bike, that would probably be next on the list.

i will be buying a fairlight secan 3.0 gravel bike as my next bike which isn't on the list.

With any luck, it'll be quite a few years before I next buy a bike!

Been through a bit of a bike-buying phase over the last 2-3 years.
- a new MTB (hardtail, unpowered) to replace an ancient 26" thing.
- an e-gravel bike (mostly for commuting).
- a replacement (unpowered) gravel bike (again, to replace something 12+ years old)
- a replacement road bike (the outgoing road bike was only about 3yrs old but I decided to get rid while mechanical was still just about acceptable and I could get a reasonable price for it!)

I'd rather spend what money I have on riding the existing fleet - I've got a good set-up now which, other than basic replacements, should last a good few years so keen to make the most of it.

I can see the industry evolving rapidly, especially around motors and tyre clearance so I'm reluctant to try a "keeping up with the Joneses" approach.

Everything at the moment is broadly standardised: 12sp, electronic, reasonably new. I just need to ride them now!

Currently have a rigid-forked hardtail, full-sus, gravel bike & road bike.
The gravel bike (Camino) and hardtail (26er Inbred with a Exotic carbon fork) cross-over quite a bit, as does the gravel bike & the road bike.
I should really get rid of the road bike as I always take out the gravel bike even for 100% road rides.
I should also get rid of the hardtail & full-sus to replace it with a trail-hardtail - something like a Sonder Falco or Transmitter. I like the look of the Transmitter & would probably suit my short-arse better than a 29er but 27.5 feels pretty dead. I like a full-sus but my riding has changed, I rarely get to ride mine & it needs more upkeep than a hardtail.

I keep pondering whether there's any way to squeeze a DH bike into my cellar but I don't think there is.

There wasn't an option for exactly that so I chose full suss 160mm+

Been looking at a Raymon Trailway 170 and GT eForce Amp. Probably because they are, what I would call reasonably priced. In other words I'd like an e full susser..

well I've just bought (today) a Ti hardtail with a Pinion gearbox! Bit niche maybe?

Replacement for my 2019 Ibis Ripley v3 LS due to frame wear meaning the bearings had to be loctited in on last service.  So a 120-130 short travel bike with 140 on the front.  Currently thinking Stoll or Scor 2030.

Custom aluminium Hrok 32" hardtail for long distance gravelleering.

Failing that a nice fast XC 29er, my trusty old Superfly has done me proud but I'm pretty sure a modern carbon job with SIDs would come in lighter (and faster...) than my gravel bike for most uses that I put it to.

Stark Varg (or more likely something a bit cheaper) and a secondhand trailer.

Secondhand Levo SL would be interesting, I'd like to do a bit more of the work but keep a little e-ssistance. Wonder if used values have dropped since Spesh revised their pricing....

I like reviews of interesting bikes - that isn’t necessarily what I might be thinking about buying (I feel pretty sorted TBH)!

I'm seriously considering an electric longtail cargo bike, something like the Fiido T2. My youngest daughter will have outgrown the Halfords trailer by end of summer so need something suitable for a bigger kid.

For the magazine/website though, I voted hardtail.

Interesting - I kinda knew from the recent tone on here that a sub 130mm FS would be the leading choice. For purposes of the Leisure Lakes survey grab though, I'm not sure that choice reflects the desires of the general bike buying public. I could be wrong

No worries. This quick survey is to help us understand what our core audience is into really. Keep the votes coming! 🙂

Does everyone here apart from me spend their life in a perpetual state of considering 'what bike to get next'? I'm genuinely curious, maybe I'm easily pleased, but I'm quite happy with what I have and I've long disabused myself of the idea that a nicer/faster/longer travel etc bike, will somehow make any aspect of my life significantly better.

Riding more and better however seems like a more sustainable, healthier and cheaper option. I'm not perfect, I have a bad tyre habit and I enjoy the odd upgraded component, but mostly I'm pretty much bike contented.

My problem is not being able to squeeze mountains and chairlifts into my life.

Part of me fancies getting a hardtail like a Voodoo Bizango next, but I'm getting tempted to buy one of those new Carrera Intercity 2 folding bikes for ease of taking a bike on a train, having missed out on the '23 ID9 version and having never owned a folder to date.

I dont really 'need' anything at the moment.

Not keen on the taste of the eBike koolaid just yet

I could change my hardtail frame but everyone has gone super short chainstays and Cotic said they wont do the sparkly purple paint colour again on the BFe.

The new Jeht looks cool, but i'd like it in full 29 not MX.

I like the idea of a Starling BLE but haven't rode singlespeed in a while

Mate has just built up a mid 90's MTB with a basket on the front so probably one of those to ride to the pub on.

My son has outgrown his small framed Ragley and doesn't do any MTB riding any more

Thinking of buying a Karate Monkey frame and fork and swapping everything over

Then I'll have a bike that nobody needs in the right size.
