I built up a Trek elite 9.9ssl hardtail with a very high spec build. The frame was replaced by Trek last December due to a crack in the lacker. The problem is I've re-built it back up and have not had the opportunity to use it due to time constraints with having twin sons of three. This bike was £5K+ when built up. Should I keep it or sell. Your comments appricated.

Considering your forum history I'm stunned you're even asking.

I'd keep it.

I see these threads all the time and have never commented before. I don't have kids and don't anticipate having them for a few years at least.

If I did though I can't see it being that much of an unreasonable request to say to my partner 'I know we are very busy but I would really appreciate it if between us we could organise ourselves to allow me to go out for 3 hours on my bike over the course of the weekend'. If you have lights you aren't even restricted to daylight hours.

Again I have no idea what the reality of having kids is actually like and don't intend this to sound anything other than inquisitive.

Don't be so damn reasonable!

Dilemma is I use to do all the events-Wiggle enduroplus, sleepless, mayhem etc. I live in an area thats as flat as a pancake and need to travel 2hrs to travel to a trail centre or any where decent for riding. Time constraints is the main issue as seems easier jumping on my road bike. Just looking for advice as love the bike but at times feel I cant justify its use.

You'll get back a fraction of what you paid for it and then when you want to buy a suitable MTB you'll be paying over the odds again. Unless you are desperate for the money, just keep it.

Keep it, stick it in your loft under a blanket or something.

Put slicks on it and spend some time on country back-roads?
