I'm currently running a size small canyon ultimate as my good roadie, and a medium caad x gravel bike which I also use on the road. If I'm honest it provides a far comfier position for longer rides.
Now about to buy a bottom of the range allez on c2w as a winter trainer, and had assumed that the way to go would be a medium . But then I looked at the geo.
Size medium caddx.. Ht 13.2, reach 37.8, tt 53.7
Size medium allez, ht 15.5, reach 38, tt 55.2
Size small allez, ht 13.5, reach 37.6, tt 54.2
As you can see the small allez seems closer to the caad x in terms of the key dimensions (I can't find the 2015 canyon geo)
So what measurements am I missing? That make the difference. Basically the key thing for me is I want the handle bar height at a similar position to the caad x. What measurement is key to that? I'm 5.8 if it makes any difference.
Hhmm.ย I think I've just worked out my own question. The allez has no room for spacers under the stem by the looks of things, whereas the caad x has 2cms worth currently. So I need the medium to have the bars at same height unless I upturn the stem, which looks shit.
Use geometrygeeks to check them out.
Evans will probably have a big stock in, go sit on them
Evans don't have them in stock, neither does my lbs . I checked. Tbf the canyon feels fine to sit on for short rides, but anything longer than about 30 miles I begin to get back pain. I partially sorted this by flipping the stem, but it still isn't as comfy as the caadx. Obviously one is a race bike, one is a cx bike, but for winter miles I'm tempted to go for comfort.
What affect does stack have on a bike fit?
