Hi,

I was wondering if I could pick your brains ❓

I have been asked to recommend a mountain bike between £300 and £500 give or take a few pounds

I've found the models below which all look pretty good, but are there any obvious bikes I've missed?

It will be for general mountain biking and just messing around with mates.

It's also got to be a new bike, so used would be out of the question.

Thanks in advance 😀

There was a nice Inbred with a decent spec for sale on the classifides earlier for £375. That's where my money would go! 🙂

Carrera Vulcan...

not particularly 'cool', and you'd have to get it from halfords, but always get good reviews

You won't get more new bike for £500 than that.

I know a bloke selling a good as new Boardman team ht that is pretty much as food as new. It's currently a rigid with carbon rigids up front but you could easily change that. He's looking for £600 minimum though.

It's got to be new I'm afraid, thanks for letting me know though.

I had a look at these last week (on behalf of my sister in law).
I was pleasantly surprised. Value is quite important at this price level, and there didn't seem to be any spec mis-steps.
I'm not sure if they list geometry, but for info, I measured a Medium at 22.5" virtual top tube. It was a perfect fit for her at 5'7" with long legs and arms.
