Is there such a thing as a light lock that offers a bit of protection? Bike packing but solo so need to lock on ferry, in towns to buy cake, etc and one night on a proper campsite.....

My Litelock seems very good, they’re suppsedly very strong and ‘gold’ rated.

Easy to carry though, it is not.

For me its either a proper lock which is heavy and secure ie 18mm shackle lock weighing kilos or a decent padlock thru the chainring which is enough to stop someone riding off on your bike. When camping if really paranoid then tie a guyrope to the bike

I've got a Litelock too. All what P-Jay says, except the carrying thing.

Not at all good to go in a bag granted, in fact worse than a D lock as it's a massive circle and not flat. It's fine on the cross bar though with the supplied Velcro straps. I have the straps on the lock, rather than the frame as described in the instructions.

what about some kind of cheap cable alarm if you're bikepacking and likely to be nearby?
e.g. (lots of similar ones, even one that looks like a rear light)

Hiplok D or DX (Silver or Gold protection). Very portable, pretty strong.

I picked up a Hiplok DXC in the sales maybe a couple of years ago now. It's done the job securing my commuter and is a good size for portability. The clip thing even works well too. Downside is, I guess, no bike mount, but that's not something that's bothered me.
