What length spokes ...

[Closed] What length spokes do Hope use for the Pro 2/Stans 355

I'm trying to find out what length of spokes Hope are using in their front wheel made up of the Pro II and the Stans 355 rim (standard hub with 32 spokes).

Acording to the Wheelpro spoke calc, the lengths should be: disc side = 259.9mm and non-disc side = 261.6mm

so I'm thinking that the best size would be 260mm and 262mm. Can anyone confirm what is ACTUALLY used? Hope may be rounding either up or down.

The reason i'm asking is that is cheaper for me to buy a full wheel, strip it and use the rim and spokes with another hub that I have and flog the Hope hub.

Ta!

I have done this build before, and yeah i have got written down -
Drive (Non Disk) - 262mm
None Drive (Disk) - 260mm

One thing i would recommend is -
Most the on-line calculators use 12mm nipples as default. I would always go for 14mm specially since you have rounded up for the spoke lengths, it just gives you a little bit more room to manoeuvre, and if its a used rim you might need it.

Hope that helps
Josh..

Thanks Josh, I agree with the 260/262 for best fit but do you know what length of spokes Hope are ACTUALLY using in their builds?

Afraid not, dont think they release that information anywhere.
The 260/262 defo work though, built up a treat when i did them.

btw, if you're flogging the hope hubs, do you have a price in mind that you'd sell them for?
Bit cheeky, I know... ๐Ÿ™‚

Compare the other hub with the pro 2. You need 10mm radius increase for 1mm less spoke length for 3 cross.

I really don't know why folk get so anal about this stuff, it is not rocket science.

Nicko, not sure what i'll be doing with the hub, might keep it incase one of my other 3 break!!! Otherwise it will be ebay or the classifieds.

Uplink, really? I got a front hope hoop and the spares I got were 260mm... unless I measured it wrong. anyone else confirm what size the spare spokes are?

Thanks

Some accurate measuring suggests I was wrong ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Anyway, all the spokes that came with both wheels are the same length - 260

๐Ÿ˜† Thanks for having another look!

So it would seem that Hope are using spokes which I/Roger Musson's book would have considered too small for the drive side then - what do I know though, this will be my first attempt at building a wheel.

Thanks all!

Okay, just to give you an uppdate, the spokes that hope use for their front wheel with a Pro2 and Stann 355 are 260mm non-drive side and 262mm drive side.

Nicko, the front hub is going on the classifieds if you're interested.

Cheers
Paul
