So I'm looking for a decent headset press as I have a couple of Hope headsets to fit. One of them is a 1 1/8 and one is a tapered type. What is the recommended go to tool currently?

Home made. Some threaded rod (got some if you want it) & 2 big fat washers.

They even sell home made ones on eBay for very little.

I have a proper press, and I have a threaded rod press. I use a rubber mallet though

The homemade ones on eBay won’t do 56mm cups.

I bought this Park Tool one : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/park-tool-headset-bmx-bb-bearing-cup-press-hhp3/rp-prod12326

It will do pressfit BB’s too.

I've tried the ghetto press method and always end up having to resort to a mallet/hammer and wood.

It would be ideal if they had a hammer in system like the star nut setting tool

I borrowed a Park tools set once.
It made fitting a headset a marvellous experience.

Home made. Some threaded rod (got some if you want it) & 2 big fat washers.

Threaded rod (M 10 or so) 2 woodblocks plus fat washers work fine for me.

Have fitted many headsets with the X-tools press but the current price of £32 is rather salty

Hope headsets are brilliant. If there's a problem it's either you or the frame 🙂

Good luck
