My headset has died on my commuter bike (Voodoo Wanga, Newer alu frame version)
Can anyone recommend a long lasting replacement? ive killed the headset on every MTB ive owned so far
Im not sure which type i need, all i know is its tappered 1.5 to 1.1/8

Maybe this is your problem.
You might be able to change just the bearings, but there are different sizes & tapers available, depending on type originally fitted.
They should have writing on them, but that's probably corroded to the point of not being able to read them, so take them to a decent shop & they should be able to match them up.
Or if you're not sure, take the bike in & they'll be able to advise once the headtube design & size has been confirmed.
2011/2012 wanga? Still the original fsa headset? Had one of those, the headset bearings went shitty on mine really quickly. Replacing the cartridge bearings should see you right.
For the bottom cup the nukeproof warhead bearings for 1.5" are the same size.
Not sure about the top one as I never got around to replacing it.
If I recall correctly, when I pulled the bearings apart one of them was missing a bearing and a section of the bearing cage. 😡

Definitely the 1.5 bottom bearing, maybe the 1.125 top as well.
thanks ordered both, hopefully get away with just changing bottom anyway if top doesnt fit
