I want a grease for my seat post, which I adjust regularly when riding technical trails and pedals etc. what do you recommend?
when friends have used grease the post slips and drops or requires IMHO overtightening
Is the post bent if it struggles to go in?
what type of frame and post?
No, the bike is relatively new (6 mths) and seat post is straight as I've checked. It's just a tight fit and I have scratched the post when moving up/down. Thought some grease would help with QR clamp. Its an alloy seat post and frame btw.
Might be worth deburring inside of the seat tube?
I always use grease on mine, no problems with slipping and QR is never over tightened.
Basically anything waterproof will do the job.
I use rock oil MPG marine grease, v hard to wash away. Use it everywhere on the bike, works a treat..
definitely check for any sharp edges.
what material frame and seat post? Don't use any old grease on carbon parts.
edit - I didn't see the carbon bit -read fail. Umm I dunno then..
Not sure what materials they are toys. Was asking the OP.
Double read fail on my part!!
😆
I had to go back and check...twice!
to be fair I've been in the sun drinking g n t's all afternoon..
defo pissed, poss mild sunstroke..
I'm trying Pedros Biodegradable grease at the moment. Seems ok an it's £15 from Wiggle with a grease gun
I have an over greased seat post on my new bike. I'm forever re-adjusting it as it slips back inside. When I re-tighten it feels like I am about to shear the bolt.
As soon as I can be arsed, I'm washing the seatpos and frame of the grease.
