As I started getting into bike riding, I coveted Campag QR hubs and mechs (or derailleurs as we’d say then). I saved up and they were mine – along with the nifty T-bar tool for adjusting the rear mech.
Fast forward many decades and I’ve used QR hubs or their MTB derivatives ever since. Until now, when I shelled out £40 for a Maxle Stealth after the collar on the original bent beyond use (as they all do sooner or later) and I didn’t fancy being stuck out on the moor in fading light wrestling with it.
Looking in the toolbox for a 6mm hex to take on the trail with me, what did I find but the old Campag tool. And after all these years it’s still in good nick with good edges. Campag, unlike SRAM, know what materials to use.

A few of us were discussing this sort of thing on a ride earlier tonight. Sometimes old stuff is just right. Just because it is old doesn't meant it doesn't work. TBH my favorite tools are all decades old.
