Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice with a new pair of glasses. Budget £70 but could stretch a bit if needed.
They will be used for both mountain biking and road riding. Priorities are scratch resistance, clarity, not fogging easily, a couple of different lenses (or transitions) for different light and the option to buy replacement lenses when they inevitably get scratched. A design with no frame beneath the lens also seems to suit best, not fussy on colour.
Really unsure what to get but giro havik's or second hand oakley radars are looking a good option...
Thanks
This is just based on my experiences, and I realise other people will be along shortly but... I used to wear Oakleys for riding and off the bike, and the lens quality/ optics are fantastic. But for me, the price didn't pay off in terms of value, especially given that mine fogged up a lot.
Personally I'm a huge fan of Specialized transitions glasses - the transitions are virtually imperceptible, yet always seem to be just right for the light level. Fogging isn't too bad, and they're pretty comfortable. But I've heard that they're no longer available in any quantities (unless you're in the US), which is a huge shame.
I've read good things about some of the Endura glasses though, and if I had to replace my Spesh's, that's probably where I'd look next.
I ride with clear lenses all year round and find bolle safety glasses perfect for the job and only a fiver on flea bay
Oakley every time for me, they just work. They are expensive but that initial cost will be spread over many years, certainly in my experience.
In addition the customer service is so good its silly; broke some M frames, 8 years after buying them and got a replacement frame for £15.
There is a lot of hype and marketing associated with them as a brand, but they are one of the few products to live up to it.
I can strongly advise these

Fit your criteria on all counts. I've had a pair for years. They're bomb proof. I did scratch a pair of the lenses quite badly - my fault - and Bloc sent me another set free. You can't argue with that
My M Frames seems to fog up at the slightest chance 🙁
Bolle safety specs, mad cheap. Although I now ride in a pair of color-change oakley flak jackets. They're miles better because they don't fog and seem to repel mud and water, but are they worth nearly 20 times as much? Probably not.
I currently use Endura half frame changeable lens jobbies. Less than £40 for 4 lens, although the darkest and mirrored lenses have a strange polarisation effect when looking at damp patches on road. Optical clarity is good as every other pair I have used, in that I can see through them, don't notice the edges and the frames are unnoticeable.
Did like my Spesh transition glasses, but snapped the frame.
Bolle safety specs, they are the dugs nuts
Out of your budget, but Oakley all day long. I'm a pilot and I can see things through my Oakleys that the naked eye can't! I've given my shades to people to point things out and they've been ablke to see them! If you buy a set of Jawbones, you can change the lenses to suit your application. I've got vented clear lenses to keep crap out of my eyes on night rides.
I agree with 'Crikey', in that they do just work. AND the customer service really IS that good!
