on a 2x10 would be close to a 34-36 on 1x10? Thinking of going 1x10 but want to try and simulate the same gearing on my 2x10 before I take the plunge.

Assuming by "34-36" you mean 34T front and 36T rear, and assuming you have a 22T ring... a 20-21T on the rear.

what gearing is currently fitted to your 2x10 setup? and what do you plan to use for the 1x10?

Sorry guys, should have been more specific. Running X9 2x10. Current is 26/39 crank and 12-36 cassette. Plan to go 34t front and keep rear.

24-25T sprocket, then.
The maths ain't hard: you're aiming for 34/36=0.94, just multiply your chainring size by that.
