I have always fitted a sealed gear cable to my bikes, but i now need a full outer so i don't need a sealed cable. Are there any recommendations for a decent priced gear cable?

Always heard the 10m reel of SP41 advice on here, dimissed it as "a bit much" for someone who doesn't work on his bikes that much.

Great advice though. I've got some now!

You will use it, it won't go off, it's cheaper, some of the best stuff you can get (sealed kits aside, if they work for you) and more efficient - the only odd length you'll end up with is at the end of the 10m.

And you'll have some in when you need it.

Where is the best place to get a 10m reel from? And does it come with end caps or are they purchased separately?

On searching, i see some come with and some come without. Also some are stated for 1.1mm cables and some are for 1.2mm cables. What is most common?

£14.99 from fatbirds.co.uk, free postage.

Not sure about the end caps, though, although it's possible I've had the wrong ones, but the 0.1mm hasn't mattered.

?
