[#11402222]

Recall a thread on here from a couple of years back, but can't find it now.

Nearly finished a SS monster-cross build based around a Genesis Fortitude. Currently it's running 29x2.2/2.4 (only because that's what I had knocking about in the garage). In time, I'll go slightly smaller, probably the WTB Nano 29x2.1.

What size full length mudguards do I need?

The thread I can't now find mentioned some spendy Aluminium ones, but I can't afford to splash out on those.

Cheers

(I've just replaced my 2.1 Nanos with 2.2 Teravail Rutlands, and I love them. Better off-road, with more grip and cushion, but no draggier on tarmac that I can tell.)

I've got the 65mm SKS chromoplastics on my 29er commuter with 2" slicks. Not a huge amount of room to spare but fine

@rootes1 ... Tried to PM you but the PM facility doesn't seem to be working. Interested in the Pletschers, can you email me on Kevin (dot) Harley (dash) Roberts (at) Virginmedia (dot) com.

I've recently gone with Hebie Rainline mudguards in 68mm width to go over my 29x2.25 Smart Sams. Loads of clearance and pretty easy fitting, though you do have to cut down the stays. I also had to drill a hole in the rear guard for the seatstay mounting, but it was easily done.

Not super-long coverage, but excellent value. The cheapest I could find them delivered to the UK was from Rosebikes. Lots of narrower widths available, too.
