I have just read the article on the new stif morf on singletrack and it has made my mind up as to my next bike. I have been wanting to build another hardtail for a while now and love the look of this frame.

Thing is what forks should I go for. I have been an avid fox fan for a while now running 3 sets of floats120 and 140. I prefer the longer stroke. I have used manitou in the past and found them to be relly plush but they seem to have gone more budget end of the market in recent years. I have heard good things about the new rock shoxs, the pikes and lyriks also.

Thing is its an expensive bit of kit to buy and decide you don't like so how could I try some out without buying them first.

Pikes.
End of thread

(Pretty sure Stif have a demo bike, pretty sure it has pikes, ask them for a go?)

(Pretty sure it's the one in the pic on the article)

There are usually deals available on Marzocchi, I bent my Fox forks in the Alps last year and needed a replacement set ASAP, due to fund limitations at the time I went for a pair of 350CRs (£329 new at the time) and they're great.

Yes they're a bit agricultural and heavyish (200g over Pikes), but they don't flex and the simplicity makes them easy to service and change the travel if needs be.

As for trying forks, that's a tricky one, bouncing a brand new pair up and down in a shop doesn't really give you an idea of how they'd feel on the trails. As tomhoward says above, demo bikes or get chatting to friendly looking riders on the trails and ask if you can have a go 🙂
