I previously used Finish Line Dry Lube on my hardtail and it worked great. The bottle is almost empty so I need to get another one. I recently also started to ride in the winter, so I'll also get another bottle for winter/wet use.

For dry, cross-country use, would I be better off with the Dry Lube, or is the a bit more expensive Ceramic Wax Lube a better option ? How do this two compare in the mentioned riding conditions ?

For wet use or winter riding, when snow gets stuck to the chain, should I get the Wet Lube(green bottle) or the Ceramic Wet Lube ?

You are about to be bombarded by many different lube suggestions - plutoline wax, squirt/smoove wax, wickens and soderstrom 3/5, rock n'roll stuff etc. It all depends on your local conditions, your soil - sandy/clay/grit?, how wet? do you clean your bike? etc. Can of worms.

What do other local riders use?

I haven't had very good experiences with the ceramic/wax options, they weren't very good at the job they were supposed to do and in the winter the floating bits were sett(l)ing down in the bottles.

I am quite happy with the green(wet) lube and I recommend it; I am not sure about the red/dry one, it went through a couple of changes over the years. For dry weather I use Shimano PTFE dry lube.

I do love a good lube thread.

I wouldn't recommended Rock n' Roll Extreme anymore, its nowhere near as good as it used to be.I won't be buying it again.

Fenwicks Professional lube(used to be called stealth mountain bike lube) is what i'm using, smooth, quiet and pretty clean. Cheap and  bottle will last you ages.

Anything but Finish Line wet in my experience. Unless black, gritty drivetrains are your thing.

I use W&S no.3 in very wet conditions, squirt in anything else. But it depends how often you want to wipe down your chain and reapply.

Finish Line Red FTW, especially if you can find the ‘no-drip’ applicator thing.

I used Green for ages and as above it’s no better, and covered the drivetrain in black gunk.

Thanks for the answers. I remember I read somewhere that the ceramic wet also gets black and attracts stuff. I suppose that's the thing with wet lubes.

Not sure if I was very clear, I'll buy 2 bottles, one for dry ( dry lube or ceramic wax lube ) and one for wet/ winter(wet lube or ceramic wet lube). I'll stay with Finish Line because I'm pleased with the quality of their products.
