Mine's going to be about 27 with pedals.
Ones about 20.Ones about 30.
Mine was a bit under 26lb when i built it to start with but its now a nats chuff under 22lb i swapped the superstar wheels for hope evo crests the tyres from on one heavy things to nobby nics and got rid of heavy tubes. Still heavier than i would have guessed at for carbon frame and fork tbh
My wheels are something like 1850g the pair - this feels pretty heavy to me as my first 29 set.
Cant remember what the hope wheels weighed but it was more than quoted and not much lighter than superstar set. Big weight savings for me were tyres and tubes.
Oh and i swapped deore cassette for xt but that was for hope freehub protection rather than weight ad rest of stuff is reassuringly heavy deore too 😉
A hell of a lot more than the suspended geared one. It was a lot cheaper though.
I'd guess about 28lb.
21lbs with bottle cages, saddlepack and tubeless repair aerosol.
About 22lbs, I can go lighter but then (to quote the late great Steve Worland) it turns into a spastic Bambi, thinking about it I should also quote that on the deft to heft thread 😉
Cheers.
My Niner rigid SS is 18lb, most of it is RDO mind..
Should get it back out of storage shouldn't I 😕
Cube Reaction Pro. 9.2 kg which is 20.2 lb.
More to come off though
Smudge under 18lbs..it was lighter but then I got a lust for finishing a ti bike with ti bits rather than carbon and a brooks saddle...just because, even if it did add about 200g straight away. pimp wheels help and stupidlt light cranks etc.
Air 9 c wieghts in at 16 pound and a bit. Thats geared with rdo forks
Next SL cranks, aimerican classic wheels etc
Quite shocked mine is so heavy tbh. Barely lighter than the 5 it replaced.
less than 20 with a butted steel fork and a ti frame.
a shade over 19 with the old carbon fork. it was slightly over 22 with a rohloff and the old carbon fork
23 incl pedals with no light bits thrown at it at all, no Ti no Carbon.
btw the 5 was hardly heavy framed.....
steel frames are hardly light ...
heavy wheels and tires will always be heavy wheels and tires , two of the easiest places to save weight.
20.3lbs should be able to get it lighter by taking the tubes out.
Fortitude with Jones Fork and 29+ front end 28lb
High Latitide SS with Kinesis IX fork 23lb
SS Superfly Carbon 18lb
My El Mariachi is 26.9lbs ready to ride with a 2.35 Hans Dampf on the front.
24lb with a fat front, Ti Jones Spaceframe.
So my wheels must be pretty hefty at 1850g then? No idea how much weight the extra 3" typically adds. I think my tires are some light racy jobs but they currently have tubes. I reckon I'll save a lb or so when I go tubeless.
The bars I just put on are 300g - back in the day I'd ahve 120g carbon bars on. However I still have my carbon seatpost and saddle, and it's XTR, so it's hardly a heavy build.
I guess your 20lb ones are all carbon XC race machines...
just under 28lbs

scales at the shop say 26, but i think they're a bit out. must be lighter than that, surely.
Is the front wheel still on the floor dirtyrider 😉 im amazed that's only 28lb
Oh and tyres i swapped to were racing ralphs not nn btw
My new one is exactly 29lb

I think my SIR.9 is about 25lbs with it's 29+ front end.
Some on MTBR claim to have their SIR.9's down to below 20lb but they must live near helium gas plants.
Scandal with parts bin build, 24ish
Dumping all the useless geary cack helps keep it light as well.
Stooge (bathroom scales method): 10.3kg = 22.8lbs inc. pedals.
Build is: SS, Crests with 2.3 Spesh tyres tubeless, ti post, light saddle, short stem, wide bars, SLX cranks with a Goldtec OneKey wonky ring.
Intending to go 29+ on the front + a dropper soon so it will get a tad more portly.
29er Seven Sola Singlespeed titanium 18lbs
26er Spot Brand Singlespeed steel 20lbs
Dumping all the useless geary cack helps keep it light as well.
No useless geary cack on mine. Only useful gears.
I'd suggest that your 27lb could be someone else's 23lb unless you are using the same set of scales.
Sounds about right though. That's not a lightweight frameset.
Yeah I am only using some cheap fish scales, that may over-read.
Tubeless will shed some.
My El Mar (with gears and suspension) came in at 28lbs or so.
Yeah I am only using some cheap fish scales, that may over-read.
Of course, how else would the fishmonger make a margin?
I'm using my bathroom scales, so they probably under-read.
They are for fishermen to weigh their catch, so I'm sure they wildly over-read, for the same reason bathroom scales under-read 🙂
**** knows, it's made of steel and had bigass tubeless tyres on it
IIRC mine sat at 30.
29+ Dually's on Hope pro2
No dangly bits or associated shifters etc
Big brakes, DH bars so yeah not light at all.
Stoner that is an ace bike
Cheers Coomber.
Blame that ^ boy tazzy for the silly forks.
I love that bike. It's my only mtb for the moment and is great round the malverns here.
Always humbling when people quote weight of a 29er that is less than my 'road' bike...
Just built a rigid geared inbred 29er on the cheap, comes in at 29lbs. XL frame and steel steerer though. Rides nicely so I don't mind. Interestingly, it comes in at almost exactly the same weight as my 26er inbred with 130mm fork!
