A good friend of mine has a £700 C2W voucher burning a hole in his pocket but isnt too sure what to get.

So far he's looked at:
Trek fx 7.3
cube Hyde race
cannondale badboy fatty

He's 6 foot plus so it needs to be available in big sizes and also available on the C2W scheme.

What would people suggest?

Thanks

As a note Evans Cycles now take Cyclescheme C2W vouchers

Commuter.. anything that will take proper SKS mudguards

Trek 7.3 is a nice bike and comes in giant gate sizes ideal for a big chap.

Also with the voucher might be worth allowing for lights, helmet etc?

Left field options:

Montague SS £679

Montague Geared £580

Bianchi £670

Fahrrad Manufaktur T100 £640

Fahrrad Manufaktur E1N1 £750

He has all the helmet, lights, etc.

Those are some odd looking bikes, very Euro

Also for all year round he'd prefer discs.

I went through this a while back and ended up with the BadBoy 26 disc. Unfortunately mine doesn't get much use and I am punting it, however it is a great commuter and with a few upgrades (stock brakes are crap and wheels are heavy) it is a flyer which is also pretty capable as a 'proper mtb'.

And therefore sensible for communtering 😉

The Montages fold as well:

how about:
Scott Sub in the sale at Evans at £699 - discs and hub gear

What ever he gets he needs mudguards if he serious about commuting. great even if it is not raining but the roads are wet.

he's been commuting for over 2 years but his current bike is being retired so guards etc are covered.

that Scott looks good.

canonndale is under budget but only in the sale and loads of places won't take c2w on sale bikes

Yer they do a whole range in the sub

I think due to the changes in c2w that sometimes with a sale bike you would get a better deal if you just bought the sale bike outside of c2w.

Kona paddy waggon if flat. Will need rack and guards as a given. Plus decent tyres and some proper commuting clothes.
