Thinking of updating the hardtail to something with clean lines and subtle touches. But i've no idea whats out there.

Anyone got any inspiration?

(120-140mm / trail usage)

Something short to medium travel and made of steel usually ends up having clean lines so I imagine most people will suggest something from the Cotic range

If I was getting a hardtail it would be one of these:

Ooo and orange could be nice. £450 is reasonable too!

In the tradition of recommending what you've got I'll recommend a Dialled PA. Though the P7 does look nice.

Maintaining the 'recommend what you have' tradition and seeing as someone mentioned Cotic:

I don't have this any more but it was very nice!

(Cotic Simple, 26er singlespeed)

Edit: before people point it out, that was the first ride and I later fixed the bars and saddle 🙂

Which one is that wwaswas?

I'm saving up for a Curtis. This month it's an XC9 (usually is). Still got a while to go. Wonder who'll take over the brazing if the old man ever retires?

That Shan is nice, but maybe a bit too gnar for my riding.

Have always fancied a Soul....

What happened to Kona. Those late 80s to 1994 Konas were lovely looking and handling bikes. Same with Marin I suppose.

I've got a '97 Lava Dome, which has very similar geometry to the earlier ones and it was always a bit crap tbh - it's my pub bike now, but in great nick - keep thinking about retro'ing it...

Clean lines = rigid and single speed, as soon as you add gears and suspension the lines are no longer clean and they all just look a mess to me.

It isn't really a hardtail if it has rigid forks, is it?

Cotic Soul or any steel hardtail with minimal/zero gussets.

Got to agree and not just because of what I posted back near the start of page 1!

The genesis latitude copying the Shan 917 but not doing it anywhere near as well.
