I don't really like the stock one, it's a boost ring, and as such has a massive mud shelf on it that the chain rides up on, resulting in a horrible noise under power.

Happy to go non boost, as I don't think it matters much on 1x11, What are ye using?

Cheers!

All Shimano rings are the same. It's the cranks that determine whether it's Boost or not.

I find the newer thick/thin Shimano ones quieter and smoother than the old tall square toothed numbers. Still steel teeth so last really well.

Superstar / Works / Absoluteblack ovals are all very good. I've used them all and can't tell any difference. Haven't particularly noticed a build up of mud on the shelf either, I think it's because it is chamfered on all of the above.

Oneup one was the best I found for 11 speed. They state it doesn’t work for 12 speed shimano though which I don’t understand why!

In my experience they all do the same job. Works are my favourite as they are a cracking price and seem to last as long as the rest.
