What tensioner for cowled dropouts?
My last HT frame had cowled dropouts and it was a right PITA to get a chain tenioner to work.
Couldn't get a spanner in to tension a Surly singleator and the a2z one I tried couldn't be rotated to the correct angle because the cowled bit got in the way. I used a Blackspire BB mounted chain device in the end.
Anyway- another cowled dropout frame is on the way and I want to run it as a singlespeed but with a tensioner at the dropout...
Anyone had the same problem? What tensioner works??
I've used Surly tugs on a Cotic Simple
Old rear mech. Simples.
Should have said its for vertical dropouts.
Al I want a neat (push up ideally) tensioner- rear mech at last resort!
I've run a 4-jeri singleator type tensioner on a couple of frames with cowled dropouts (Cove Handjob and Flow Moe) without any problems - always ran mine pushing downwards though as I think it looks tidier.
