I tend to just buy genuine OEM pads now tbh, had far less bother with them.

I've been using Disco Brakes Kevlar and Ceramic pads for the past couple of years since Superstar stopped doing Formula pads.

CL Brake pads, work better than the OEM for me.

Galfer for me, I don’t understand why you would spend hundreds on brakes then try and save a couple of quid on the most important part of them.

Stock galfer pads are like £7 what makes them better than others at the same price?

I use the 1554T compound, for the same reason I don’t fit “Ditch finder” tyres to my car.

So I always hesitate to recommend these, but, I use Bikein ceramic pads from Aliexpress. They cost £1.20 a pair for my brakes, and they're grand. Not super powerful but I have good brakes, I don't need the pads to add power. They last well, they're consistent and not noisy and just basically good brake pads. Work grand in the snow on my fatbike, on my dh bike at fort william, on my enduro bike at the mega... Just back from a week in wales where frankly every other bastard thing on my bike went wrong at some point except for the £1.20 brake pads. I'd still buy them if they cost the same as competitors- they're better imo than Discobrakes frinstance, more consistent at the extremes of crappy weather, and they're less noisy than superstar kevlar which I otherwise really like. I guess my only concern is whether the next load I buy will actually be the same as the current lot or if they're just basically drop selling whatever's cheap.

A quick unrecommend for Racematrix from me though. I went through a set in the UK summer, was quite pleased- unremarkable, but decent. Went to the alps with another set, threw them in the bin after the first big descent. I've been very happy with their standard pads though

I need some now, been using RaceMatrix which have been great 90% of the time but a couple of times on long descents (Heartbreak ridge last week) I think I've overheated them and ended up with a pretty black disc & brake fade until things cooled down.

SRAM organic probably felt better but are no use in the mud / rain where they get eaten pretty quickly.

So what to try next. Uberbike Kevlar, Uberbike Blue "E-Bike" ones or something else....? The scarily cheap ones Nobeer recommends? 😮

They are for SRAM Guide Ultimates (and G2 RSC which use the same pad).

I'm using Fibrax semi-metallics in my G2 RSCs, they're good, the stock pads were rubbish no power. Direct from them on eBay - cyclefanatics.

Lol, not me, I use OEM pads.

i used race matrix till i went to 4 pot breaks. they are just too grabby now and overheat. I tried N&T pads but the tolerances weren't great and they were noisy, sounding like binding on the calipers. Also the springs were weak and rusted after a couple of weeks (they were dead cheap).

Now using Top Brake ceramic (red) off amazon, which are silent, stop well, modulate well and have held up so far.

Hope sintered always. last a long time and work well and also come with new springs, pins and clips
