I had the same issue with a disc cx bike i've just built, i ended up having them built by Hewitts, Mavic Open Pro on Hope disc hubs.

They did an excellent job, lovely wheels.

I use Open Pros on XTR hubs. I usually go for Hope hubs but really didn't want the clickiness on a road bike.

Like Flip, I've had Mavic Open Pro Disc rims, laced to Hope hubs.

I'm placing these in a resprayed Planet X Uncle John.
I'm also using a Boardman carbon disc fork.

cheers for the responses guys.

seems like the open pros are really popular.

has anyone else used these rims?

they seem to be basically the same as the XC717s I've got on my other bikes apart from the diameter. They've been great so far, have been on the pomp for 1.5 years with all sorts of heavy cargo being transported and have had no problems with them.

I run Hope Hoops - Pro2 Evo hubs on Stans Crest 29er rims - with Conti GP4Season tyres (28mm).

Crest 29er rims are light - 380g I think, so quite a bit lighter than OPs and Hope hoops are good value for what you get - £108ish for the front £180ish for the rear.

Just a shame there aren't any tubeless 28mm road tyres.

I've gone for chris king hubs on mavin a719s. I will be able to do a fairly comprehensive review on them in 6 months, but they seem strong. I was going to go for the tn719s but decided on the a719.

What I found out when I was getting some wheels built last year is that 700cc and 29er are the same size so you can use either rims. I went for Hope hubs on Sun rims

I'm also using a Boardman carbon disc fork.

Can those Boardman forks be bought separately?
