Guys
My brakes on my winter hack are driving me insane, I dont think they could get much louder and any more annoying when wet. And I've finished the descent by the time they've shut up.
I'm currently using uberbikes sintered and semi metallic. Great brakes in bone dry, but anything wetter than that and they are noisy. Deffo not contaminated!
Using sram guides.
HELP please. This is annoying one. Thankyou
Make sure your discs are properly centred in the caliper and your pads are contacting the disc at the same time.
This is my number on complaint on all my bikes, no matter what I try, my disc brakes squeel in the wet.
You can try everything with re-aligning callipers, facing mounts, sanding rotors, replacing pads etc. but unless you're constantly braking hard on long descents, I think discs just squeel in the wet.
I've got my eye on some anti-squeel compounds such as Liqui-Moly or CRC Disc Brake Quiet, but for now I'm just sticking to rim brakes!
My Shimano resin pads don’t squeal at all.
Saying that, I think they achieve this in the wet by also not actually working.
Sintered pads can be very noisy in fairness. Have you tried the sram official sintered pads - I don’t remember them being squealy- and the ones in my Codes so far have been pretty quiet.
With uberbike I tended to find the sintered pads ok but a little underwhelming - I much prefer the race matrix onesz
I recently stuck some Trickstuff power+ pads in my brakes and they are pretty quiet, if you haven't touched them for a while you get little bit or noise at the start then they are back to silent again.
I'm using Race Matrix on my Guides and pretty quite in the wet.

I thought that was a well-recognised issue with resin pads in wet weather?

Isn’t this just SRAM/Avid brakes? I had done a while ago and they howled at the slightest provocation.
Race matrix uberbike pads are the noisiest pads out there on my codes I've taken them out today they are that loud
I've put my old sram official sintered ones back in and much quieter in the wet
I did just order the uberbike sintered but sounds like above they may well be just as loud reading the above comments... Bugger!

Really? I thought they just wore more quickly?

Ah yes - you may be right. Tbh I’ve never run anything other than sintered as my usual riding conditions tend towards ‘quagmire’ except in high summer.
Race matrix all year round in ours. Saints, XTs and REs. Use them in all conditions. The worst by far were the ones that came with the REs. Any sign of damp and they squealed like a stuck pig.
I'm now using super chepa kevlars from aliexpress. Yeah, I know I know but I'm pretty sure you can buy the same pads in the UK with a brand name on for 5 times as much, and they worked great for 2 weeks in the alps including the mega. They do make a fair bit of noise, but they work in almost all conditions- they only really lose power in slushy wet melty snow rides.
