Can anyone recommend me somewhere that can weld horizontal dropouts onto a steel frame?
I've an old Orange P7 and would like to singlespeed it, preferably without using a tensioner.
Cheers
Dont Orange sell ss dropouts?
Only for the new type of frames. Mine is from 2005, so has the standard dropouts for geared bikes.
I was going to email them to ask how to go about it, but they don't seem to have an email address.
ENO hub? Must be cheaper than dropouts/welding/respray
where are you based?
London
Stone, what's an ENO hub? I googled it, but it wasn't that clear. Is it an eccentric hub type thingy?
I wish a "leggyblonde" asked me where I'm based. hohum
indeed - the hub is eccentric which means it will work with vertical drop outs and fixed disc mounts.

Ah ha.
Nice bit of kit and certainly worth considering. Thanks for the tip.
another take on it is the eccentriker BB adaptor.

£110
can only be used with HTII style cranks though.
The ENO hub is £125.
Id expect to pay at least £150+ for fitting new dropouts and a respray by Argos.
Any idea or experience about the longevity of these bits?
The BB is interesting, but I'm likely to be fitting Middleburn square taper cranks.
If you're into paying all that much, why not just get a new SS frame from On-One or the like at not much more?
Just exploring options at the moment, plus I like my P7.
where do you live enfht?
I got Cliff Shrubb to braze me some track ends onto an old MTB frame in 98, and its still going strong, even without paint! But then he has built TdF and Land Speed Record frames...
He's based in Sutton and has just recently done some slidey dropout things too.
email me if you want his no.
