[#1590474]

Riding along and thought the back tyre could do with a squirt of air, as i undid the valve cap - air pissed out from under the retaining collar. No matter how loose or tight it was it would not seal so had to slap a tube in. Any ideas why or how to sort it?

Did you have sealant in there?

fwiw i was surprised just how tight you have to have the retaining ring,
i`m a mechanic and i thought i had mine tight up but when i installed the milk and pumped 35psi bubbles appeared
had to get pliers on it/them
(alpine rims)

Does Gee mean the retaining ring on the presta valve at the "air in" end, or the collar on the rim?

If it is at the "air in" end, I'd assume that that some sealant has got into it, solution would be to fit new valve core.

Fair enough. Sounds like a job for some pliers then!
