sorry to double up slightly on a previous thread, but I'm hovering over click for some new wheels. Flows are out because I occasionally ride on 1.75 tyres and been told by several that they'd be no good. Would prefer the lighter crests to the arch. Searching through previous discussions on here people have indicated there is a weight limit of around 180lbs for the crests but I cannot find that guidance on any official website for ZTR, so where did that figure come from? my weight fluctuates but generally around 14 stone (196lbs) to 14 1/2 (203 lbs)
Can anyone link me to it?
or provide personal experience of riding the crests and being over 180lbs (12 stone 8) - did they buckle, were they rubbish and you regret it for eg?
thanks
I'm roughly 13.5 stone and have Crests on Hope hubs on my Heckler - I'm a clumsy rider and they survived plenty of action in 2012 (bike was built in December 2011) with plenty of action in the Peaks and a trip to the Alps. They could probably do with being re-tensioned but they're still running true. I've run them tubeless the whole time.
Every time I see these topics about Crests and weight limits I wince and worry that they'll explode but they keep on going.
I weigh the same as you,and have ridden round the Peak with Crests with no problems, including Chapel Gate,Jacob's Ladder and the Beast.
