Does anyone know, or could they find out, the weight difference between a pair of XTR cranks and SLX cranks? Just the cranks, not the rings though. I know there's about half a pound or so between them with rings but wondered how much difference the rings make.

Cheers

Not sure, but between (older) XT and XTR there use to be 100g, but adding Middleburn rings to both dropped the weight difference to 50g.

I checked ont his today, SLX are 889g's and XTR are 770g's

So for 3 times the price you save a whopping 129g's - wowsers!!

yes it is alot but what do you expect, thing is if you have reasonable kit it is going to be expensive to save lots of weight and 129grams is actually a lot of weight off something that only weighs 900grams.

Cheers people. These weights, including the weight weenies one, seem to be including the rings though. I was hoping to find the difference between just the cranks themselves as I'll be using a different middle ring and a bashguard.

Like the only the difference is the weight?! XTR cranks are miles stiffer than SLX

Are they? I can't tell any difference at all with mine, using the same rings and pedals. TBH if you swapped them over on the 2 bikes overnight I doubt I'd even notice.

rock -> even less saving, so for say £90 for the SLX v's £285 for the XTR £1.61 per gram, ace.

They do look nice though 😆
