Weeping sidewalls

I have Maxxis Minions on my hardtail and I've noticed recently the sidewalls appear to be weeping a bit. Not so much so that I've got loads of sealant seeping out, but the tyres appear a bit wet and 'sweaty' when I get the bike out the shed.

Do sidewalls degrade? Should I replace the tyres? Or just top up the sealant?

I just ignore. A little unsightly when the sealant gets a bit mildewy but I'm riding a bike not entering a beauty contest. I top up when I feel like it which is rarely.

Mine were doing that for months. I finally took the tyre off to have a look and the sealant (Stans) had completely broken down to just water/clear liquid.  I've now bought a £5 micro syringe set and use that to remove old sealant and water through the core before refilling the same way which is much easier.

I had this issue on a Specialized Purgatory tyre (2019-2020) that I had bought direct from Specialized. The weeping of Stans thru the side wall started after about 1k miles of use. I wrote to Specialized about the issue, although I got a nice reply they offered no explanation as to why this was happening. However they did send me a brand new tyre free of charge, an admission of guilt or just good customer service?

I've got that slightly with the Nobby Nic I've got on my rear...I just add a wee bit more sealant every couple of months.

We gave up on Specialized tyres for this reason. Multiple models and sidewalls did it.

I have had some Vittoria Mazzas that wept a little, that may have been due to wear and tear.  Had it with Specialized tyres years ago but new ones have been fine.  I didn't find it a major issue just a bit unsightly.
