Hi Mark - I was probably heading for a bacon sandwich and a little cry at the time 😉 Is the demo at the FoD? If so I'll go see how broken Sam currently is and hopefully catch up...

Cannock Chase in the dark, my mate having a rest in the middle of the trails completely oblivious to all the other trail users.

Alex - the demo is at Leigh Woods, my local riding ground. A little cry? hope you didn't scratch the lovely aqua paint.

30ish miles of the finest Hampshire roads and tracks this morning. Stunning autumnal colours, dry gnarmacz (mostly!) and hardly anyone around. Bliss.

the colours in the trees and the sunshine out today really was beautiful.

30mph headwinds with gusts up to 45mph. A lot of Tarmac, some open moorland and a few steep bits through the woods. Oh, and some uphill cowpat drifting - apparently Chupacabrs aren't designed for cowpats 😆

Oh, and somehow my rear axle came loose on a fast open downhill - never had that happen before!

First over the bars for a few years at Haldon which was busier than I've ever seen it.

Autumn colours and chill in the air. My favourite time of year riding.

Cracking ride on the Downs, got a KOM and then 20 minutes later high sided and am nursing bruised ribs!

I continued my bid to visit previously unvisited squares on the OS map (increasing my veloviewer explorer score). There are quite a few map squares up here with no tracks of any sort, so this tends to involve a fair bit of hike-a-bike and lots of riding on untracked grass, heather and bog. Ideal fatbike territory then 🙂

[img] [/img]

I was also reflecting on the fact that my lovely £3K Smuggler continues to languish untouched in the shed while I keep reaching for this stupid lump of steel. I was even contemplating the, frankly ridiculous, idea of adding heavier (suspension) forks to it. I'm still working on the assumption that one day I'll awake from this madness and appreciate the fact that I've still got a proper mountain bike in the shed, but no sign of that yet.

In a bit of a change to my original plan, I ended up doing the Marin Trail.
It's a great trail, and the new bits towards the end?
Steep, swoopy, Fun, fun, fun...

Just back in from Chipping Walden BMBO orienteering event. 62km in 3 hours on super dry trails and thankfully only small hills (lots of em mind). Ended up second, missing top spot by 1 point. A good day out. Thanks to the Midlands MTB Orienteers for laying on a great event.

ShowING friends around cheeky FOD trails yesterday in the sun. And then a nice little loop near Abergavenny today. It was cold and misty while riding, then sunny when we finished.

cold, windy, snotty ride around east dartmoor. Underestimated how much two weeks of head cold had taken out of me. I'm knackered and was pushing up some hills I really shouldnt have to.

Nice! I got a bit chilly at times just zipping around Grizedale and Claife, that north-easterly must have stung a bit on High Street.

After a fortnight of no riding due to surgery, serious injury to one of my children and a friend of my wife taking his life, I finally got round to having a ride this afternoon.

It felt good.
