Away for most of the weekend (Father-In-Law's birthday), so a quick Friday night spin round the woods is it for this weekend I fear.

Still working on my night ride selfie technique. At some point I think I'm just going to need to bite the bullet and take the 'big' camera out with me...

Harting Down today, rediscovered a cheeky bit of singletrack. So glad to get out on my bike today as I've not cycled since June.

Giving gravel a go. Thankfully gone tubeless for a bit of comfort but still miss suspension. Ended up at Hampton court and along the Thames.
Repurposed 26er with 29 wheels.

Weather looked kind, set off on a loop from Hebden round the tops to Ogden reservoir and back.
Bloody hell the wind was harsh high up, i was blown to a standstill a couple of times. Gave up on the tops and returned by Luddenden Dean - it was another world out of the wind with mikly late autumn sunshine, deer skipping in the fallen leaves etc. etc....

I went up around Dumyat and explored the upper Jerah plantation. There is a nice bit of trail up there I was not expecting.

Finally made it out on a ride i've wanted to do for ages - A 60km loop of gravel with 1500m ascent, 500m of it immediately after starting and a similar (but more fun) ending. I used to ride this on a motorbike ... but it's been a while and i'd heard gates were locked and outsiders weren't exactly welcome. Sounds like a challenge.

Took Monday off work to fit it in as there's a 2 hour drive at each end.
4.45am and i'm ready to hit the road ... but with a completely flat new tyre I had to resort to stealing a wheel from another bike.

It rained all night before and the the clay roadbase had turned to slippery mush. It continued to rain as four of us squirmed our way up Mt Buggary (real name). Some pushing was required, but even walking was difficult.

Firetower reconstruction in effect.

After a slog through the rain and mud to a 10am lunch in the middle of whoop-whoop, we had the final 15-20km to go. Most of the gates were unlocked so there was much joy on the fast descent (except for one bloke who's dropper cable broke!)

Then we reached the locked gates.

Made it across a couple of slippery creek crossings before being accosted by a farmer who insisted we were trespassing. Probably won't be going back again.

A Sunday spent riding the W2 trail at Afan with MrsReady, then a quick look at Smilog Woods in the rain yesterday - looks good fun! I'll be returning at some point for a proper expolore!
